Hi everyone! Welcome to my blog - especially set up so I may share some exciting news with you about my forthcoming trip to Fiji! I am going to Fiji for 6-weeks to do work experience for my final university assessment piece from 16th May to 29th June. For those of you who don't know, I returned to university in Australia last year to become formally qualified as a middle years (grade 4 to 9) arts teacher (drama & visual arts). I am studying a graduate diploma in education at the University of the Sunshine Coast in Queensland. A great university with very modern architecture, surrounded by lots of Australian gumtrees & kangaroos! (We even have kangaroos hopping by our classrooms at times or otherwise resting on the lawns!!!) About Fiji ... I will work in a mainstream highschool with deaf students who have been fortunate to progress in their studies from primary to highschool due to recent provision of sign language interpreters. More information about the Fijian deaf students, interpreter support and the school can be found on these websites: http://www.footprints.org.au/default.aspx?c=10&x1=14 http://www.gospel.school.fj/ I will make this brief & tell you more in the leadup to my departure for Fiji. Meanwhile, I have plenty of studies & assessments to complete before my departure for Fiji. Gulp!!! Please keep in touch by email: lisa@honeybee-creations.com; or send me a comment via this blogger site. However, I apologise if my replies are brief as I will be busy with university studies & work experience in Fiji between now & end of June. Thereafter, I will be finished & free to resume normal life again as working professional & formally qualifed school teacher. Yay! Bye for now. Cheers! Lisa
